SDK Documentation Overview *********************************************************** If you are new to InDesign development, see "Getting Started with Adobe InDesign CS5.5 Plug-in Development": /docs/guides/getting-started.pdf Other PDF versions of our written documentation are in the following directory: /docs/guides API reference is provided in the following two files: /docs/references/index.chm /docs/references/sdkdocs.tar.gz Both contain reference documentation for all public APIs and SDK sample code. The index.chm file is a compressed HTML file, for use on Windows. To view its contents, double-click the file icon on Windows. The sdkdocs.tar.gz archive is for use on Mac OS. To expand this archive on Mac OS, double-click the file. It decompresses to a subfolder named sdkdocs. To view the reference, double-click index.html. *********************************************************** 5. Documentation Updates *********************************************************** All documents now contain an update status box either on the copyright page or at the beginning of each chapter. This box identifies changes to the technical content and specifies the update status of the document or chapter. Not all chapters or documents are updated for each release, and for interim releases, product changes could have an effect on document content that has not been identified. The update status boxes let you know when content is not guaranteed to be current. Known Issues *********************************************************** * If you installed security update 896358 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may experience broken links and missing text while viewing the /docs/references/index.chm file. Use one of the following workarounds: Method 1 -------- 1. Double-click the index.chm file. 2. In the "Open File-Security Warning" dialog box, clear the "Always ask before opening this file" check box. 3. Click Open. Method 2 -------- 1. Right-click the index.chm file, then click Properties. 2. Click Unblock. 3. Double-click the index.chm file to open the file. AGL Headers and Libraries *********************************************************** AGL (Adobe Globalization Library) is based on ICU (International Components for Unicode), developed by IBM. InDesign CS5.5 exposes some public APIs that allow third-party developers to get the ICU locale for a language. The version that InDesign CS5.5 uses is based on ICU version 3.4 headers and Windows libraries in /external/icu, available for your use.
